25/11/11:
Earlier in November, we agreed Justin Bieber had done enough harm with his «Under the Mistletoe». The album was a great threat to Christmas as we know it, the holiday was near destruction. We had to find a solution.

A couple of weeks later, the solution is about to be revealed. On December 1th, we release the single «Angel in the Snow» on iTunes, which is our own contribution to the Yuletide.

We humbly believe the song is one of the finest Christmas song ever made, and recommend you strongly to visit the iTunes Store the upcoming Thursday.

By the way, we will perform the song along with other songs in Skien next Friday. Make sure you don't miss it, it's even free! (More info here)

In the meantime, you may want to take a look at this video. Especially if you speak Norwegian.

Happy holiday!

03/10/11:
Attentive fans may have noticed a change in the band lately, and we feel a need to explain: Earlier this summer, Kjetil and the rest of the band decided it was time to seperate ways. We felt our plans for the band headed in different directions, but there was no drama behind the desicion.

A couple of days later a madman turned our country upside down on July 22nd, and all of a sudden the band line up didn't actually feel so important.

Now, however, we think it's time to thank Kjetil for everything he has done for the band. We wish you all the best in the future, and promise you a guest appearance when we visit Wembley one day.

But although we miss Kjetil, the five of us that remain in the band are excited about the future. Since our EP release in July, we've continued making music that feels good.

We've already played songs like Elephant and The Photo live, and we promise there is more to look forward to as the fall is coming upon us. You can see some of the other titles in the picture above.

There won't be too long until you will hear more, and all information about upcoming shows will appear here.

Now I know in the future there's a precious time to come...

18/06/11:
The "Never Ending Single" has been out for about a week now, and we appreciate how well it has been received.

The song has actually hit the number one spot on NRK Urørt Indie Rock Music Charts, which is the biggest music site for independent bands in Norway. We've also entered the Top 10 Any Genre Charts, and we're still hoping to climb further.

And we ain't done yet.

The single is selling quite well on iTunes, being the 26th most sold rock single in Norway on June 14th.

As you can imagine, we feel quite proud. And we can't wait to release our upcoming People of the Sun EP, which will be out for sale in July.

Meanwhile, make sure you buy "Never Ending" - if you haven't done so yet.

Download the song here:

7Digital
Amazon.com (To be released July 6th)

The song will soon be available in stores like Napster, eMusic, Grooveshark and Nokia Music, as well as Spotify.

23/05/11:
We've already talked to Kjetil - now is the time to have a chat with our bass master. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Little Jon!

Jon Grindbakken
Born: 01/04/95
From: Rønholt, Norway
Plays: Bass
Relationship status: Taken

Q: Jon, how's it?
A: Good, really good! There are some very busy weekends at the moment, as I'm both working and playing with the band. But I can manage it. I'm not dead... yet.

Q: How does it feel to be an upcoming world star bass player?
A: It's fantastic.

Q: 'Cause that is what you want to be, isn't that right?
A: Of course it is. This is what I want to do for a living, no doubt about it.

Q: Where Show Champa in - let's say three years from now?
TORSTEIN (sitting next to us): Besides playing at Wembley...
A: Dude, that's not gonna happen in three years. That's next year.
TORSTEIN: Oh. Damn. Right.
A: Well, in three years we're sitting in a studio in Sweden, working on our second album - the sequel to our fantastic debut album.

Q: Sounds awesome. Tell us, what's your life like?
A: It's all about school, Henriette (Jon's girlfriend), Show Champa and work. And I'm trying to get the motorcycle license as well. Seriously, I'm about to become an autistic. The same things are happening every single day.

Q: What' the most important of the things you just rattled off?
A: Henriette.

Q: Wrong answer.
A: Yeah, well. Sorry.

Q: But hey, you look a little irritated right now. Why?
A: Because I think the bus tickets are way too expensive. I've spent almost 300 NOK on bus tickets to and from Skien this weekend.
TORSTEIN: Why don't you buy a 30 day ticket?
A: Because I don't wanna spend 400 NOK on that. How much does it cost?
TORSTEIN: 375 a month.
A: Oh. Crap. I do spend way more than that on bus tickets per month.

Q: Guess we can say it's gonna be good with that motorcycle license?
A: It's gonna be very good!

Q: So we're in studio right now, and you've actually been doing some vocal recordings. How does it feel?
A: I've actually been looking forward to it for quite a long time, 'cause I am a great singer in my opinion. And we fixed it, we made it ashore. We needed a lot of takes, because... Well, actually not that many. We needed three takes. And it sounded great. You can hear it when we're done.

Q: What kind of song is it, and what did you do?
A: It's a song no one has ever heard, we've never played it live. It's called "Never Ending", and I'm doing some background vocals.

Q: Sounds great, we're looking forward to hear it. We're running out of time here, is there something you want to tell to the fans at the end?
A: I'm not that creative, I don't know what to say. But I love you guys. All of you. Really.

27/04/11:
It has been some exciting days for us lately, and you might prepare yourself for some nice stuff coming up pretty soon.

We've also been working on some songs and tunes, and we cannot hide the fact that the sunny weather inspires us to write lots of upcoming hits.

But hey, we'll tell you more about it later.

A couple of days ago, we received a nice greeting from our friends in John Snow on our Facebook wall.

The boys are on their way to Los Angeles to make their break through there, but sent us this video before they left:

We can't say nothing but thank you, and wish the guys good luck at MUSEXPO this weekend.

24/04/11:
Let's get to know the guys in the band even better! In the near future, ShowChampa.com will publish interviews with each member of the band, starting today with...

Kjetil Nilssen
Born: 29/05/92
From: Porsgrunn, Norway
Plays: Vibraphone/percussions
Relationship status: Available

Q: So Kjetil, tell us - who are you?
A: I am the strange guy who's standing all alone in the corner of the stage during our gigs, playing percussions and vibraphone.

Q: What made you start playing music?
A: I started in a marching band. One of the guys there played a song that I thought was pretty cool. I wanted to know how to play that song, so I started to learn how to read music. Ironically, I never learned that song.

Q: What is the best thing about being a member of Show Champa?
A: Everything. Like all the hot chicks in the front row on gigs. Groupies, in other words.

Q: You got lots of them?
A: Not too many, but some. At least three... (Laughs.)

Q: But you’re single, right?
A: Yes, at the moment...

Q: We’ve heard you are a little proud of your car. Tell us about it!
A: It’s a BMW 318 E36. She is the love of my life, and she will always be.

Q: You’ll never get rid of her?
A: I don’t think so, actually.

Q: Not even in 50 years from now?
A: I really want to have it even then. I’ll just have to fix some rust and stuff.

Q: Tell us something about yourself that nobody else knows?
A: There ain’t a lot to tell, ‘cause I talk too much. If you ever meet me, you’ll probably get to know the whole story of my life.

Q: What’s your favorite Show Champa song?
A: People of the Sun.

Q: And your favorite band?
A: BigBang.

Q: What are your dreams for Show Champa?
A: It would have been awesome to play at Wembley, and I would love to have Susanne Sundfør as a backing vocal.

Q: A combination of those two…?
A: ...would have been delicious.

Q: Do you have any final words for the fans of Show Champa?
A: Come to our shows, for fucks sake!

31/03/11:
We got some good news and some bad news for you on this last day of March. Let's start with the bad one:

April 9th is your last chance to see us live for some time now, so you better get your ass to Rockekampen 2011 and support us in the competition the next saturday. We simply ain't planning any more shows after that. You ask why?

Well, that's where the good news kick in.

It's nearly a year since we recorded the "Arms of Faith" demo, and we think it's time for us to visit studio again. We won't say exactly when, and we won't say exactly what we are going to do - but we think it will be pretty awesome, and we want to focus on this for the next couple of months.

Of course; we won't say no if someone offers us a job too good to refuse. This will eventually delay our studio plans though, so it must be a really good offer.

If you want us to play somewhere, contact us and we might work something out.

See you then!

22/03/11:
Last monday, Liam was waked up by his cell phone ringing. As he finally answered, no other than the manager of BigBang was on the line, asking if Show Champa wanted to support the quite-so-famous band on tour.

We said yes, and three days later we were hanging out with the guys at Kroa i Bø.

Needless to say; we had a great time.

Because of this, the local newspaper Varden made an interview with us, and we actually got the whole front page of their sports- and culture edition. The next day, radio station NRK Telemark had a live interview with Preben. Things are really starting to roll now!

The same week we were also picked out as one out of twelve bands to fight at Rockekampen 2011, a local competition where the winners get 10.000 NOK and get to play shows on local gigs and festivals.

Read more at the upcoming shows page.

09/03/11:
We found out we could use a web site that was just a bit easier to update. So yes - we're using blogger. Now we've said that. And by the way; that allows you to comment our news!

But hey, life's good. Last saturday we had a great show in Skien, presenting new songs like "People of the Sun" and "Arabian Night".

Not just that; some very kind people are helping us with financial stuff, which means that we should soon be ready to go to studio and record what we hope will be an awesome EP.

These are exciting times.

Oh, and we almost forgot: About a thousand people are gonna watch us at Ibsenhuset, Skien, in late March - no shit. And you could be one of them. Read more about it here, and get your ticket now. You won't regret, of course.
